Virtual Science Fair

    In the late spring of 2009, 8th grade GT science students will complete their two-year research projects. Some students will finish early (by January 2009) and complete in the Howard County Science, Math, and Technology Fair or the Baltimore Science Fair. Goal 16 d. of the HCPSS Middle Schools Skills and Processes Standards states that students should present the scientific research product to an authentic audience. Students that finish in the late spring lack an authentic audience for their projects. To solve this dilemma, students will compete in a Virtual Science Fair.

To participate in the virtual fair, students will:

• design and execute a controlled experiment
• create a website that displays all aspects of their project 
• create a podcast presentation of their project
