Introduction

Whether told through drawings on cave walls, written in hieroglyphics on stone tablets or written in today’s books, human beings hold the unique ability to tell stories.

Today, with the advent of the personal computer, user-friendly production software and access to the internet, the average individual can generate digital stories and share them with a global audience.  In our globally-connected world today, it is important for young people to understand the power of telling stories and sharing ideas with other students around the world.

Connecting with the ePals global community, students today are able to collaborate with students around the world and share ideas during the creative process and showcase the final product to the world at large.  In this unit, students will participate in the Digital Storytelling Project using ePals to telecollaborate with students around the globe and share their own video stories with the outside world.

**Note: students participating in this activity are currently enrolled in 10th Grade technology class and have already been introduced to basic iMovie and GarageBand media production tools and practiced final output techniques using built in quicktime and MP3 conversion.
