Mr. Callender's ET630
Webpage

Another election year is upon us, and our class will be following it
closely. Using the internet, we will examine the candidates,
their policies, party platforms, and progress as states align
themselves with one candidate or the other. In doing so, we
will
learn about how our nations picks it's leader, and what issues matter
to whom.
We
will be participating in a nation-wide internet-based
CyberConvention. Together with schools all over the country, we
will study the candidates, issues and polling trends in their
state for the 2008 presidential and congressional races, using print,
broadcast and Web-based media. We will discuss their observations in class,
compare and contrast the candidate’s qualifications, and debate their relative
merits. Each week our class will be emailed
a topic to research; topics covered will include candidates, issues and media
literacy. We will submit our weekly findings to the National CyberConvention
website, sharing the concerns and likely voting patterns of our home state.
Data will be posted on our site to allow classes to analyze trends state by
state and nationally.
As a culminating event, our class will cast their delegate votes online a
week prior to the national elections predicting the outcome of the vote on
election day!
